Replies to NOC Ticket Tracker Email
The NOC Ticket Tracker system is designed to provide efficient and
effective tracking of tickets (work items, trouble reports,
documents, help requests, etc). When you reply to email generated via
the NOC Ticket Tracker system, you should follow some simple
guidelines to ensure automatic handling of the ticket.
- Send plaintext email content only. Any
content other than simple ASCII plaintext will be discarded by
this system, including email composed in HTML, Word, etc.
- Preserve the subject field in the email. The
subject contains information that enables NOC Ticket Tracker to
automatically file the email. Minor changes to the subject text
such as prefixing with Re: or appending a (fwd)
is okay. Simply using the "Reply" function of your email software
should be just fine.
- Avoid quoting the original message. It is not
necessary to quote the original message in your reply unless it is
absolutely necessary for clarity. Quoting unnecessarily will make
reading a long thread of email more confusing because the same text
will appear over and over again.
