MySoC.NetThis information is now obsolete. Please contact admin@mysoc.net if you have any enquiries. MySoC.Net is the new online portal and identity for all users, past and present, of the School of Computing. MySoC.Net unifies the online identity of both current students and alumni (including past and present faculty and staff). In the past, alumni were recognized as separate distinct group from current students. With a unified identity, current students can graduate into alumni and retain the same MySoC.Net ID. Choose your permanent identityYour MySoC.Net ID will be one you choose, not one chosen for you. No more getting slapped with a tanlich1 or u003523 type of userid. You decide what you want. Your MySoC.Net ID is also permanent. If you chose your ID while you're a student, it is still yours when you graduate, so you can be remembered forever at this ID. This helps to preserve the continuity of your online persona. This is not an alumni serviceActually while it does serve alumni, the point is that MySoC.Net is not exclusively an alumni service. Most of MySoC.Net services are as much for current students (and faculty/staff) as they are for alumni. The goal is to unify the experience while in the School and after leavning the School. Your MySoC.Net ID can also be used to login to SoC services such as the NOC website, SoC-VPN, etc. It will also be the defacto ID used for new network services. What services are there?MySoC.Net continues and extends the email forwarding services previously provided by ANS. Best-of-breed anti-spam and anti-virus features are now available. Directory service previously provided through ANS now consolidates both alumni and current students (and faculty/staff). Other brand new offerings include Mailing Lists, Personal Domain Names, experimental VOIP (Voice-Over-IP phone calls), etc. |
